Monk + Discord hero
Hello, I'm a monk. And I don't know what build to use for my discord heroes I'm thinking AP Boon Prot? That sounds good but what kind of weapons should I use with it?

Take the general AP caller with Aegis & prot spirit. SoA/cond removal/hex removal/resses are also nice. 40/20 + 20% prot staff.

I'd say leave the prots/heals to the heroes you will get plenty of that from discordway.
Here is what I use. Assassin's promise YMLaD Ebon Vanguard Sin Finish Him Spear of Light Bane Signet Castigation Signet Rebirth |

Honestly, I wouldnt use discord on a monk. It requires a condition or hex and if you are playing monk, chances are you are doing so b/c you want to heal/prot. If you want to heal/prot, chances are you won't always have a condition or hex on your build. That said, if you do choose to use discord, Id go with the AP boon prot build. Its healing/protting potential is powerful due to the good e-management and it gives you a hex for your discords to use.

It is doable, I play all the time with my monk and discord heroes. However, I usually do SoS with the tweak of adding Technobabble and Evas (instead of another spirit and armor of unfeeling) for the AoE daze, which I find extremely helpful versus problematic caster groups (like the charr in eotn).
I think that unless you run with just run with one monk hench and your heroes for heals, you should go on the offensive instead of defensive. You should have been able to find a few heals/prots on your discord heroes already. You will find that you kill much faster when you are in control of the damage. If you want to run AP, I think the smite build someone mentioned is decent. Last edited by Esuna; Dec 02, 2010 at 06:28 AM // 06:28.. |

Considering the long recharges of most smite skills, it just seems natural to go that way with Assassin's Promise. That's how I usually do it, anyway. I also do Spear of Light and tend to run Scourge Healing or Scourge Enchantment as a backup hex, and Crippling Dagger as my backup condition. Rest of the build is defensive, as I'm working on Legendary Survivor. Might not be the most uber-fantastic-pro-meta-rawr build, but since the heroes do most of the work anyway, it gets the job done.

I also run my monk as a smiter for discord. For a backup condition I like "You are All Weaklings!", since it's a cheap, long-lasting, AoE condition.
